Trips you really must take by car

Set off to discover Portugal

Do you want to get to know Portugal, but don't have much time available? We have the ideal solution for you. A tour around Portugal that will take you to the most respected points of the country, launch yourself to the adventure right now. Starting in Lisbon, head north, your first destination is Coimbra. Enjoy the academic spirit of the city and its centennial traditions that last until today.  The next destination is the well-known Portuguese Venice - Aveiro. Here, visit the Ria de Aveiro and choose the beaches you want to visit. Continue to Porto, where you won't regret spending a few days. Lose yourself between Ribeira do Porto and Aliados. From here, go to Guimarães, the city where Portugal was born and, consequently, is full of history.  Go in the direction of the Douro and get to know the most beautiful landscapes between Régua and Pinhão. Now, start going down. Go towards Évora, but first, pass through Serra da Estrela. Enjoy one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Iberian Peninsula. Almost at the end, head for the Algarve, Lagos, where you will find some of the hottest beaches in the area. To end on a good note, is to end on the beach. On the way back to Lisbon, go to Porto Covo and relax on its deserted beaches.

Set off to discover Minho

Your journey by car through the Minho begins the moment you rent a car from Guerin. Then, hit the road, heading for Porto. Between Clérigos and Rua de Santa Catarina there is a lot to see. Take the A4 towards Amarante, and stop in Penafiel to explore the Vale de Sousa area, namely the Rota do Românico. Drive to Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal, which must be included in every itinerary. Go to Braga, the religious capital of northern Portugal, and "lose" time getting to know the Bom Jesus Sanctuary. The next destination is the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Here you will live unforgettable adventures and then head to Ponte de Lima, for some more magnificent pedestrian walks. Head to Castro Laboreiro and Melgaço and get to know the riverside area of the Minho River. On the way to your last destination, Esposende, make a quick stop in Viana do Castelo and explore the Litoral Geopark. Already in Esposende, stay in one of Apúlia's windmills.

Set off to discover the Algarve

In an unforgettable road trip, start from Aljezur and explore the magnificent beaches of Arrifana and Monte Clérigo. Then, head to the South of Portugal, with a mandatory stop at Costa Vicentina's beaches, especially Carrapateira beach. Continue to Sagres and take the chance to visit the Cape of St. Vincent and the Fortress of Sagres. Next stop: Lagos. Go to Praia da Luz or Praia da Figueira. After exploring Lagos, head for Alvor, passing Portimão and Praia da Rocha. Next, you will put Lagoa off your check list by visiting Benagil beach and its famous cave. Next, you will visit the Ria Formosa Natural Park in Faro. Don't leave for your next destination without first enjoying the fantastic seafood of this area. In Tavira, take the boat and discover the island's beaches. This route is for enjoying the long sunny days on the beach. So, take the A22 and end your trip inland, in São Brás de Alportel.

Set off to discover Lisbon

For a few days of vacation away or to enjoy a long weekend, this is the ideal road trip. To start this escapade, leave Lisbon and head to Queluz. Visit the magnificent Queluz Palace and its gardens. Next is Sintra and its charms. Enjoy a few days here and get to know Guincho, Azenhas do Mar and Cabo da Roca. Then go to Ericeira, where relaxing on the beach is a must, whatever the weather. Lourinhã is the next stop. From here you will leave to learn more about the history of dinosaurs at the Dino Park. Head to the coast, to Peniche, and don't forget to make a quick visit to the Berlengas Islands. Head to Foz do Arelho and go to Óbidos to get to know this small medieval town. Before reaching your final destination, visit the Mafra Convent. Now you can go back to Lisbon.
