4. Lx Factory

If initially it was just an abandoned industrial area, today it gives place to an unbelievably unique place. History, culture and creativity cohabit in this space. Go to see the Ler Devagar bookstore, to taste the LX cantina, to get lost in the MAG Kiosk, or to handle the shopping list in the Mercearia Saloia. Enjoy this special place.

5. Palácio Nacional da Ajuda

A neoclassical construction from the first half of the 19th century, the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda holds important collections of decorative arts, such as jewelry and ceramics. Take a brief tour of the first floor of the palace, where private quarters are located, and the noble floor, where gala receptions are held. It is here, with its unique beauty, that the President of the Republic organizes important official ceremonies.

6. Castelo de São Jorge

Situated on the city's highest hill, Castelo de São Jorge is one of the capital's emblematic monuments. It was founded in the 10th and 11th centuries, when Lisbon was an important port city. The Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, inaugurated on June 30, 1793 by Queen D. Maria I, is the only opera house in Portugal. This is the only way to perceive the grandiosity of this place, which is considered a National Monument.

8. Praça do Comércio

The Praça do Comércio, which once housed the Royal Palace before it was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, is one of the most beautiful in Europe. Flanked by a group of 3 buildings and open to the south to the immense Tejo estuary, it deserves a good part of your time to be explored in detail. For several decades it was Lisbon's gateway for maritime commerce. It was, at that time, where the merchant ships arrived.
