What is the difference between an excess and a deposit?

The excess is the driver's liability to Guerin in the event of damage to or theft of the hire car. You can purchase one of Guerin's protection products which allows you to reduce this excess to €0 or limit your liability to a maximum amount of €300 or €600 depending on the rental car. 

The deposit is a mandatory security deposit that must be held on a physical credit card in the name of the booking holder, which can be used in the event of a charge for additional extras. If no such charge is made, the deposit amount is automatically cancelled at the end of the contract. If you add one of the protection packs, the amount to be blocked on the credit card will be 50% of the vehicle's excess. 

Can the value of the excess be reduced to 0€?

Yes, if you purchase additional protection products, such as the Premium Pack, Premium Gold Pack (includes wheel and window protection) or Platinium Pack. However, a credit card guarantee must be left in the driver's name of between €600 and €1,000, depending on the vehicle selected.
Packs cost between €20 and €41.50 per day, for a maximum of 15 days per rental contract (28 days).Glass and wheel protection costs €8 per day, for a maximum of 15 days per rental contract.
The limitations of liability do not apply in cases of violation of the rules of use of the vehicle, wilful or negligent conduct, non-compliance with the Highway Code or whenever the situations giving rise to liability occur when the Car is not driven by the Customer or by an Authorised Driver.

Can I use a credit card other than the one used for payment on your website when I pick up the car?

Yes, you can, as long as the holder of the physical credit card is the main driver and it is valid for at least 30 days after the contract is closed. 

How can I get a copy of my invoice?

You may request a copy of your invoice by sending an email to customerrelations@guerin.com.pt indicating the reservation, voucher or contract number.

How can I sign up on the Guerin website? And how can I change my password?

I need to refuel the car, what fuel should I use?

You should check this information on the fuel filler cap. If, exceptionally, the information is not affixed, you should contact us, so we can check on our system.
