Fast & Furious 10, Lisbon high-speed action
Lisbon has increasingly become a hotspot for major international film productions. In recent years, the Portuguese capital was chosen as the setting for several key scenes in Fast X.
Starring Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa, the two actors turned Lisbon’s steep streets into makeshift racetracks, complete with explosions and heart-stopping chases. But there’s more: filming also took place in Vila Pouca de Aguiar, the Thermal Park of Pedras Salgadas and even Lamego.
Filming locations in Fast X:
- Miradouro da Graça
- Steps of Lisbon Cathedral
- 25 de Abril Bridge
Instagram tip: Recreate a "wheels-in-motion" photo on the streets of Alfama (no speeding, of course!) with the famous trams in the background.

Sintra – pure glamour in House of Gucci.
Ridley Scott chose the Monserrate Palace as one of the filming locations for House of Gucci. The romantic and magical aura of Sintra captivated Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, who brought to life a story full of luxury and tension, all with the mountains as a dramatic backdrop.
Sintra also featured in the film The Ninth Gate (1999), starring Johnny Depp. It’s easy to explore the key spots where the filming took place.
Filming locations in House of Gucci:
- Monserrate Palace
- Quinta da Regaleira: not officially featured in the film, but a must-see in any visit to Sintra
Behind-the-scenes trivia: Lady Gaga's presence in Sintra caused quite a stir, with fans gathering around the palace to catch a glimpse of the filming.

Cascais and Estoril – classic 007 vibes in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Long before the current wave of films shot in Portugal, the coastal stretch between Cascais and Estoril had already captured James Bond’s attention.
The iconic Hotel Palácio Estoril, a symbol of glamour and espionage during WWII, served as a key setting for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969).
Filming locations in 007 – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service:
- Hotel Palácio Estoril
- Casino Estoril
Instagram tip: After a well-deserved break, raise a Martini toast at the Estoril Bar, just like Bond would.
Porto – the landscapes that won over Netflix.
Think all movies shot in Portugal were filmed in Lisbon? Think again. Porto has also shone in several productions, including the House of the Dragon series (a Game of Thrones spin-off), with secret scenes filmed along the Douro River and in the Monsanto village.
Its medieval scenery and unique architecture continue to inspire international filmmakers.
