Renting a car in Portugal: 6 tips

Portugal is a relatively small country, it is even possible to get from one end to the other by car. Renting a car in Portugal is always a plus as it allows you to visit several places in a few hours of travel and discover the most beautiful places in this enchanted country. For an unforgettable trip, check out Guerin's tips on how to rent a car in Portugal and some of the aspects to take into account:

1 - Pay attention to the driver's years of experience

In Portugal, the minimum age for driving is 18, but when renting a car there are often other requirements. At Guerin, you only need to have had your driver's license for more than 2 years. After that, just choose your destination and Guerin will keep up with you.

2 - Check your license before traveling

Before setting off on an adventure, always check that your driving license is in order. Pay extra attention to the expiration date.

3 - Understanding how tolls work

Traveling by car in Portugal doesn't have much to tell you, but the issue of tolls, wherever you go, always generates some doubts. In Portugal, freeways always have tolls. To avoid them there are always alternative roads, where the journey is longer, but also more beautiful. Of course, you'll save on tolls, but you'll spend more on fuel.

4 - Calculate the number of people traveling

Before you rent a car, make sure you know how many people will be joining you on your trip. At Guerin, whether it's 2, 5 or 9 people, we have solutions for you. Our vast fleet of rental cars will certainly meet your needs.

5 - Make an itinerary that includes places that public transport does not reach

The biggest advantage of traveling around Portugal by car is that you can get to places that buses and trains can't reach. There are unique places to visit in Portugal, discover them with Guerin.

6 - Be aware of speed limits

Wherever you go, when renting a car, and beyond, you need to be aware of the speed limits. This ensures there are no surprises at the end of the trip and keeps you safe at all times. Yours and that of those traveling with you.
